Horses are some of the most beautiful creatures to walk the face of the earth; but as pets, they require lots of maintenance and attention. Simple feeding and brushing is not enough for these animals and if you ask any horse owner or veterinarian, they will tell you that you need a great deal of patience to take care of these pets. The following are 7 tips for grooming your horse and keeping your horse happy and healthy.
To begin with, clean the hooves of your horse. Horse hooves, just like human feet, are extremely important and require cleaning almost on a daily basis. Buy a hoof pick, which is inexpensive, and use it to pick out any small pebbles or other debris that may have gotten stuck inside. Dirty hooves can ruin the feet of your animal as they create painful situations for them potentially causing infections or your horse to be unable to walk.
Just like you would wash your face after an intense workout, you should wash your horse’s face after a ride or any other rigorous exercise. This will help prevent unnecessary hair loss and infections that can occur due to fungal infections. Sweat and moisture can ruin the coat of your horse. Often times, it is the case that the face of the horse if forgotten. Use a squeegee that is made especially for horse to wash your horse’s face. This is a comfortable material for your horse and does a great job at cleaning. Using the squeegee can also help to avoid getting rid of hair from your horse’s face.
Use a sponge to clean different areas on your horse. Keep these separate and do not use the same sponge on the dock that is used for the face. If you remember to keep the sponges separated you will prevent cross contamination of bacteria and other microbes from one area to another.
Take care of the horses tail by washing, conditioning and detangling it at least once a week. Many people will brush the tail daily in addition to the weekly washing. You can use a tail bag if you want to keep the tail protected, but you must tie this bag below the tailbone of the animal. Frequent maintenance makes this task much more manageable and can prevent snarls and sores from developing in this sensitive area.
Horses with darker coats need to spend time in the shade, outside of the sun. The sun can turn their coats a different shade and cause damage. It is also important that your horse be rinsed with water after coming from an intense ride, or after a rigorous exercise activity. The salt in the sweat can also speed up the fading process and cause damage to the coat of your horse. However the rinsing will stop this and is something very simple for any horse owner to do.
Remember, that while bathing your horse is a good grooming practice, you must be careful. If you bathe him too much, you could create a coat that is dull and lacking in luster. You should at most bathe your horse with soap and shampoo once a week.
Coat polishing sprays are great to use on your horse after you’ve given him a bath. When you use coat polishing sprays, your horse’s coat will really shine. Moreover, your horse’s coat will be protected from any dust build up that commonly causes skin infections and allergies.

Dog fleas are excellent jumpers, which allows them to hop onto a new host animal easily.
There are many ways to remove dog fleas from your home if you find yourself facing an infestation. There are numerous species of dog fleas, although the most common type to live on a dog, ironically, is the cat flea. After all living fleas have been removed, it can take over two years to insure that every last egg left behind has died. These medications are extremely useful, as they not only protect your dog against bites, they also help kill off the flea populations in your home. Everyone knows what a Cocker Spaniel looks like but be in the know that there is actually an English Cocker Spaniel and an American Cocker Spaniel. These two are completely separate breeds but with seemingly similar uses. Both are most often used as gundogs or as conformation show contenders.
There are two varieties of the English Cocker Spaniel and they are the field/working cocker and the show cocker. The working cocker is used as a hunting companion wherein it drives game towards the guns instead of retrieving it. The show cocker on the other hand joins dog sports in conformation shows.
Because of its infinitely wagging tail that suggests a state of happiness, many have dubbed the English Cocker Spaniel as the “merry cocker”. This dog is also well-known for being stubborn and having a mind of its own although training this breed is not at all difficult. This breed also manifests characteristics of intelligence and alertness.
The body of the adorable English Cocker is sturdy, compact and well-balanced. The eyes should be dark and the ears should be floppy and long that it should reach the tip of the nose when pulled forward. The tail of this breed is docked except in those countries where this practice id banned.
There are a lot colors for the English Cocker but some are unacceptable depending on its variety. The show cocker can only have some specific colors but the field cocker can be of any color. There are cockers found in solid colors but there are also some that are found in tricolor and roan.
Examples of the solid colors are black, silver, tan, chocolate, blue, red, gold, copper red and white. Other color combinations are black and white, black and tan, blue tick, blue roan, chocolate and tan, lemon and white, orange and white, red and white, and a lot more! In hunting, hunters prefer that their field cockers have color white in their coats in able to see them properly in the woods.
The adorable English Cocker may also become domineering and stubborn but it is also extremely loyal to the family, does not like to be left alone, and loves to get close with only one person in the family. This breed is also loving, optimistic, intelligent and adaptable. This breed also ranks 18th in Stanley Cohen’s the Intelligence of Dog as a measure of the breed’s excellence in working, obedience and intelligence.
Interestingly, studies by the University of Cambridge have shown that the temperament of the cocker has a relevance to its coat color. The studies conclude that solid-colored cockers are more likely to be aggressive compared to the others. Additionally, findings have shown that Red/Golden colored cockers are the most aggressive towards humans when it is being disciplined or sometimes when there is no reason at all.

Aquarium filters play an extremely important role in maintaining a proper environment in your fish tank. They remove toxins and chemicals from the water.
There are three types of filtration that a proper filter will provide, and all are necessary to keep your tank and the fish healthy. The types are chemical, mechanical, and biological filtration. Most filters that are on the market today will perform all three types of filtration. As far as the actual types of filters, there are several different types and styles. There are biowheel filters, internal, sponge filters, diatom, and wet/dry filters.
Aquarium filters also come as canister filters, undergravel filters, and power filters. Undergravel filters have somewhat of a bad reputation for not working very well. However, if you use them with a powerhead performance of the undergravel filter will be improved. Choosing the appropriate filter for you aquarium is very important. Choosing the wrong one can lead to an unhealthy. If you have too small of a filter chemicals and toxins that need to be removed will not be removed as well as they should. An aquarium filter provides a place for two bacteria types to grow which will establish a healthy biological filter. These bacteria are important for their ability to break down the chemicals that fish produce through their waste. Fish waste produces a chemical called ammonia, which is very toxic to fish, these bacteria break down this toxin into nitrites. Nitrites are also very toxic to fish, another bacteria breaks down nitrites into a less toxic chemical called nitrates. Aquarium filters reduce harmful toxins and can help maintain excellent water in aquariums, but it’s still essential to clean your aquarium and to change some of the water twice each week.
Slime growth and stressed out fish are a result of improper filtration. Aquarium filters also assist in less algae build up in tanks. Doing your research on the proper size and kind of filter that you will need will help to ensure the health of your tank as well as your fish.
