Ceramic Dog Bowls Are Fashionable But Are They Safe?

Decorative ceramic dog bowls are pretty, but they are also costly. These dog bowls can be pricey, you can pay well up to $100 for one bowl. Your dog doesn’t care what you paid for his bowl, all he cares about is that they are kept clean and there is food and water in them when he wants it.

Your dog probably has one set of bowls, and they use them more than other items they may have except maybe their bed (or yours). They love us unconditionally and in return we love them, feed them and take care of them. We should also do our best to keep them healthy. You might not be informed that having the wrong type of bowl can result in health problems.

Ceramic dog bowls may be a terrific pick because:

1.They have smooth, even bottoms that don’t tip over easy

2.Many designs to fit your style

3.Easy to clean, dishwasher approved

4.They come in a good range of sizes

You may not want your child using a ceramic dog bowl to feed their pet because if dropped they will break. A child might not notice cracks in the bowls either. Even a small crevice can hide bacteria which is dangerous to your dog. Bacteria left unchecked cause parasites which can make your dog very sick.

Some things to think over before purchasing a ceramic dog bowl

1. What breed of dog you have (are they grown)

2. Is your dogs’ nose long or short

3. Ears – floppy or short

These few items will make a difference in your purchase because:

1. A large breed of dog means a large dog bowl

2.If your dog has a short snout they will not be comfortable eating out of a deep bowl and if your dog has a long snout they will need a deep bowl

3. Floppy ears can drag in your dogs’ food and water and cause ear mites. For these types of ears you would want a narrow ceramic dog bowl.

Ceramic dog bowls can add a certain look to your home. They can placed into a beautiful raised dog feeding station, which you should have if you own a tall dog. See, big dogs need to bend their neck and heads when eating a drinking. This is not a natural way to consume food or drink and can cause digestive problems.

As your large breed dog gets older chances are they will develop hip problems or arthritis. Bending over to get food or water will then be painful for your dog. Looking into a dog feeding station that is raised may relieve your dogs’ pain.

Finally, ceramic dog bowls can be an excellent choice for you and your dog. Always check for any fractures or small fissures and remind a child to handle a ceramic dog bowl gently.
